HRW calls for stopping sale of weapons to Saudi Arabia

“This week marks the third anniversary of Saudi Arabia’s intervention in the war in neighboring Yemen. The way this war is being conducted by the Saudi-led coalition has exacerbated an already poor humanitarian situation, turning it into a full-blown humanitarian crisis - the “worst in the world', HRW quoted the United Nations as saying.

Saudi Arabia and and its regional allies attacked Yemen in March 2015 to bring back to power the deposed president of Yemen Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.

Thousands of Yemenis have been killed in the Arabian-American coalition's attacks and more than 2,000 have died due to cholera epidemic.

International Human Rights Watch Spokesman Ahmad Bin Shamsi had earlier said that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman Al Saud is responsible for all crimes committed in Yemen.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Sunday called on the international community to increase efforts to end the aggressions and blockade in Yemen.

Iran's Foreign Ministry, while emphasizing implementation of a four-article plan devised by Tehran to address the crisis in Yemen, believes that the only solution to this crisis is a political one, and that the current war will have no winners, accordingly.

At the outset of the fourth anniversary of the devastating Yemeni war and the military invasion of Saudi-led coalition forces’ aggression against the Yemeni people, Iran condemns this aggression and calls for an immediate end to military strikes, massacre of people and removing the blockade against this country, the statement read.
