In the [UN] Commission on the Status of Women, we tried to present the true image of the Iranian women, Parvaneh Salahshouri told IRNA correspondent in New York.
Participation in such meetings can help other countries to develop a true understanding about the Iranian society, the member of Iran's Majlis (Parliament) said.
Salahshouri, who headed Iranian delegation to the UN commission meeting, said the participants in the UN event could share experiences and speak about their achievements.
Elaborating on the discussions in the UN women commission, the parliamentarian said they were not 'political.'
She also said that the Iranian women have been very successful in the area of tourism.
The issue of tourism development is vital regarding promotion of sustainable development as well as achieving the goals of the Economy of Resistance emphasized by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
This year's UN Commission on the Status of Women was held on March 13-23.
