'My mission is to inform you about the upcoming News Agencies World Congress in Bulgaria's Sofia,' said Minchev in the opening ceremony of the 43rd Executive Board Meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) in Tehran.
Minchev said that the News Agencies World Council (NACO) is an international organization that has so far held five congresses in Moscow, Madrid, Buenos Aires, Riyadh, and Baku.
He unofficially invited the OANA members to the event, adding that the future of the news will be discussed in the conference.
Minchev also said that giving diversification to news sources will be on the agenda of the Sixth News Agencies World Congress in Bulgaria.
The 43rd Executive Board Meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) officially kicked off in the Iranian capital on Monday with 18 countries: Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan, China, Qatar, Turkey, Oman, Mongolia, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Iraq, Malaysia, Syria, Lebanon, and Bulgaria.
OANA was founded in 1961 with the goal of facilitating information dissemination in the region, supported by the United Nations cultural entity, the UNESCO.
The organization covering two thirds of the world population has now 44 members from 35 countries from Asia and Pacific regions.
Iran, as a long-standing member, was the rotating president during 1997-2000 period.
The period was followed by a term of vice-presidency until 2016. The country is now a member of OANA executive board.
At the Tehran meeting on Monday, South Korea is expected to assume the rotating presidency for the coming three years.
