France's new gov't committed to nuclear deal

In a meeting with Majlis (parliament) Speaker Special Aide for International Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian on Wednesday, he expressed pleasure over current parliamentary ties and stressed the need for further efforts to promote all-out cooperation between the two countries.

Referring to the election of new French president, the envoy further noted that Emmanuel Macron has spoken out against terrorism and voiced his country's firm resolve to eradicate Daesh and other terrorist groups in the region, because the issue is intertwined with the global security.

Senemaud further noted that Macron has declared that he aims to fight Deash in Syria and help end crisis in the country and reiterated his cooperation with regional allies such as Iran, Turkey and Lebanon in the settlement of the Syrian crisis.

Amir Abdollahian, for his part, hailed parliamentary cooperation between Tehran and Paris, hoping that it will be further strengthened after French parliamentary elections next month.

Congratulating Macron on his election as new president, the Iranian official hoped that the president-elect will consider serious fighting with terrorism among its practical priorities.

Describing diplomatic solution as a main factor in fighting terrorism, he said that Iran has from the onset of the crisis stressed on dialogue and political talks.

Referring to Iran-France growing parliamentary relations, he said that Astana talks serve as a good start to achieve political solution for the Syrian crisis, but the initiatives of the meeting may face challenges by the US and its allies' destructive moves.

Contending that the Syrian nation's fate should be decided at the hands of its own nation, Amir Abdollahian said that no solution should be imposed on them from outside the country.

Voicing concern over crackdown on Sheikh Issa Qasim by the Bahraini government, he said that the senior cleric is one of the influential figures of the Islamic world and he does not belong to Bahrain alone.
