Ethnic cleansing, main goal of Israel: Palestinian officials

The Zionist regime has begun demolishing the two villages of Khan Al-Ahmar and Abu Nuwar to the east of Quds since Wednesday. The Palestinians have been expelled from their homes by force, and at least 35 Palestinians were detained and many more were injured.

Adnan Al Husseini, the Palestinian Authority governor of Jerusalem told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that the new stage of Zionist occupation and crimes is being conducted with the green light from the US.

Washington has changed the original name of Palestine's capital and moved its embassy to the city in line with the Deal of the Century, he said.

The main goal of the measures was the separation of Quds from the West bank, and dividing it into two isolated parts, the official said, adding that the regime is setting the grounds for new Zionist settlements and developing the Ma'ale Adumim, a settlement to the east of Quds.

Palestinian Islamic Jihad spokesman Daoud Shahab told IRNA that in order to prevent such blatant hostility the Palestinian Authority should stop security coordination with the Israeli occupiers.

Meanwhile, Hamas spokesman Hazim Qassim said that such policies are supported by the Americans, and confronting them requires unified national efforts and fight.

Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine believes that supporting the inhabitants of the villages is necessary, as it is a national responsibility for all forces, parties, groups and officials and unofficial organizations to back the people.

The Palestinian activists say the raids are aimed at ethnic cleansing of Arab Palestinians. They say that the crimes are being committed with the support of the US and the silence of the Arab regimes that are busy preparing the Deal of the Century. The plan is an American one which includes legitimizing Quds as the capital of the illegitimate state of Israel.

The reports said the Israeli court that had authorized the demolition of the villages has issued a temporary freeze on the plan as a result of the Palestinians resistance and the pressures from some European countries such as France, Britain and Ireland. The European countries have expressed concern about the situation in Khan Al-Ahmar.
