The remarks by Ali Ahani were made Sunday evening in a commemoration ceremony to mark 28th anniversary of Imam Khoemini’s sad demise, hosted by Iran’s embassy in France.
The ceremony was attended by scores of the Iranians residing in France and followers of the late Imam and the Islamic Revolution form other countries.
“Today, with institutionalizing democracy in Iran, the country independently decides where and how to combat terrorism, so that it can play a role in stabilizing the region and solving its crises, as well as protecting internal security,” Ahani said.
He added, “Iran also decides independently on manufacturing weapons, including non-nuclear ballistic missiles or other types of advanced arms, to defend itself against the enemies’ threats relying on the local capabilities.”
The Islamic Republic of Iran, however, is keen on establishing friendly, respectful relations with all countries, particularly the Muslim neighbor ones, Ahani emphasized.
He expressed hope that certain heads of states, “some overexcited with extra regional powers’ supports”, would take a wise approach and stop fueling the tensions in the region before they regret their actions.
