Enemy trying to cause unrest in Iran: Minister

Enemies are attempting to turn social tensions, dissatisfactions and protests into unrest, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said in a local ceremony.

He referred to the high level of security in the country and said that the Iranian nation will not permit the enemy to undermine its security.

The interior minister rejected the possibility of war between Iran and the US and said that Washington is using economy as a tool to pressure Tehran.

He urged decreasing the country's budget's reliance on oil revenues in a bid to counter the foreign sanctions.

US President Donald Trump has mounted pressure on Iran and on May 8 announced that Washington would withdraw from Iran's nuclear deal and re-impose nuclear-related sanctions on the country.

This is while most world powers, including Russia, China, and the European Union, have repeatedly stressed that keeping the deal is in the interest of the world peace and security.
