'The regional crises in recent years have been aimed at overwhelming the countries in the region with internal issues diverting their attention from the Palestinian issue and the holy al Quds forever,' Attaché of the Iranian embassy in Beirut Ahmad Hosseini said at a ceremony on Friday evening in the Lebanese capital to commemorate martyrs of the Resistance Axis.
'The enemies chose Syria (to promote a regional crisis) as Damascus, for years had been aborting their plots,' Hosseini said.
'So, under the cloak of religion they fanned sedition in Syria and with no mercy, they treated no religious sanctities with respect and tore the country apart,' he said.
The Iranian diplomat went on to praise all fighters of the Resistance Axis who were martyred in face of the enemy plots.
Those martyred, irrespective of religious and ethnic differences, stood against the brutal enemy, Hosseini added.
