Deputy FM calls JCPOA 'multilateral agreement'

Araqchi made the remarks in a meeting with his Japanese counterpart Nobuo Kishi on the sidelines of Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Council of Ministers' Meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The two sides also reviewed the latest status of economic cooperation between the two countries following the implementation of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The Iranian and Japanese officials also discussed the ways for boosting economic relations in energy, investment and banking arenas.

Touching upon Iran, Russia and Turkey cooperation for establishing peace in Syria, Araqchi said the approval of the move by the United Nation Security Council indicates that the international community has recognized the constructive role of Iran in the region.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has always voiced its readiness to cooperate with regional countries for establishing peace and tranquility in the Middle East, he said.

Kishi, for his part, said Japanese government supports JCPOA, adding the nuclear deal would reinforce establishment of peace and tranquility in the region and across the world.

He also voiced the Japanese companies willingness to expand economic relations with Iran.
