Cuban MP underlines need to boost cooperation with Iran

Iran’s Ambassador to Cuba Kombiz Sheikh Hassani in meeting with Rodriguez in Havana on Wednesday afternoon, local time, discussed bilateral parliamentary cooperation.

Rodriguez pointed to his visit to Iran and called for expansion of parliamentary relations, including relations between parliamentary friendship groups.

Following the nuclear deal between Iran and Group 5+1 and removal of sanctions and agreements achieved by recent visit of President Rouhani and Foreign Minister Zarif to Cuba and holding the 16th joint economic commission meeting between the two countries in which 12 memoranda of understanding were signed, Iran is trying to bolster trade ties between Tehran and Havana and in this concern role of parliaments are vital, Sheikh Hassani said.

He called parliamentary relations between the two countries desirable and expressed hope that the ties could be further strengthened.
