'Iran and China are enjoying growing relations in all fields, and the ties on media and cultural issues should be strengthened,' said Zia Hashemi, managing director of Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), at a meeting with Vice President of China Media Group Yan Xiaoming on the sidelines of Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2019 in China on Friday.
Hashemi is visiting China upon an official invitation from the Chinese side to attend the conference.
Asia Annual Conference is one of the main joint economic, cultural, and political assemblies among Asian countries and others from around the world.
The IRNA manager also described Iran and China as two friends that share numerous commonalities as a basis to build their ongoing cooperation upon.
Referring to the formation of China Media Group in the country, Hashemi expressed hope that the initiative could enhance the relations between the two nations on media.
The group was formed one year ago by three major state media—China Radio International, China National Radio, and China Central Television (CCTV).
The IRNA chairman also emphasized that the news agency has boosted its multimedia activities over the past year, and it can now have a stronger cooperation with Chinese media on new media platforms.
He also noted that the video platform can be a good stage for cooperation between IRNA and Chinese media.
Yan, for his part, said that Iran and China hand in hand can play a major role in awareness rising.
