Chinese Syria envoy: Terrorists crackdown a must for durable ceasefire

He made the remarks in a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Jaberi-Ansari on Tuesday.

The Chinese diplomat further characterized Astana talks as positive saying that Iran-Russia-Turkey trilateral alliance is a useful measure in line with solving the Syrian crisis.

Stressing the need for adopting necessary measures for continuation of ceasefire and maintaining long-standing and all-out ties with Iran, he voiced Beijing’s willingness to regularly and closely share views with Tehran over Syria.

Meanwhile, Jaberi-Ansarai said that Astana talks were aimed at accelerating diplomatic solution of Syrian crisis through establishment of ceasefire and moving towards national reconciliation in that country.

He underlined the need for focusing on political solution and moving on the right track.

The Iranian official said that forming a trilateral committee to oversee the ceasefire and three countries’ agreement on its agenda are achievements of the two rounds of Astana talks on Syria.

Jaberi-Ansari hoped that continuation of ceasefire in Syria would pave the way for promoting national reconciliation and solving the Syrian crisis.
