Bulgaria awards its 1st Class medal to Iran’s ex-envoy in Sofia

Bulgarian Ambassador to Tehran Christo Polendakov in a ceremony here to grant the medal said that 'Pursuant to Article 98, subparagraph 8 of the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria by Presidential Decree No.11 of 13 January 2017, which was counter-signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Daniel Mitov, the Bulgarian Head of State awarded the Order of the Madara Horseman 1st Class to Mr. Abdollah Nouruzi in recognition of his contribution to significantly furthering and strengthening Bulgarian – Iranian relations.”

'I am privileged to decorate Ambassador Nouruzi with this well-deserved high award, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria,' Polendakov said in the ceremony.

He reminded that the ceremony is on the eve of the 120th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Iran and Bulgaria.

The ceremony was due to be held in Sofia, but because of earlier return of Mr. Nouruzi to Tehran it was changed.

Nouruzi had submitted his letter of credentials to the president of the Republic of Bulgaria on the 5th of March 2013, as extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran.
