Boroujerdi: Saudi to fail with its targets

He made the remarks here Tuesday night in a meeting with the Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nahih Berri during which they discussed bilateral relations as well as regional developments.

Boroujerdi who heads parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission arrived in Lebanon Monday morning.

After the meeting he told reporters that he was happy about the beginning of the new round of national dialogue among all influential and active political factions in Lebanon which took place upon the initiative of Mr Berri.

He reiterated Iran’s strong interest in establishment of peace, security, stability and unity in Lebanon and said regional developments especially those in Syria and Iraq are highly sensitive.

He said the evil phenomenon of Takfiri terrorism has contaminated not just regional nations and governments including Lebanon but even all those countries which have contributed in its creation like certain Western countries.

The parliamentarian stressed Iran’s zeal about confronting Takfiri terrorism and extremism and great cooperation with Syria and Iraq in this area.

He said Iran believed all those who played the major behind-the-curtain role in fanning the Syrian crisis in the past five years principally aimed at distracting struggles from the Zionist regime as Muslims’ arch enemy to Syria which is considered as the strongest fortitude against the Zionist enemies.

He regretted the Saudi Kingdom in this very sensitive juncture is mobilizing efforts to normalize its relations with the Zionist regime while Iran is quite confident about the fact that such plots will get nowhere as everyone is now witnessing that the patron of all Takfiri terrorist groups in the region including in Iraq and Syria is rapidly declining and is moving towards annihilation and destruction.

Boroujerdi further hailed Lebanon’s immense political impact in the region despite the country’s small size and hoped for constructive national dialogue between Lebanese political groups.
