Baku agrees to issue visa on arrival for Iranians: Minister

Elaborating on the reports about the outcome of his meeting with Azeri officials on Thursday, Vaezi said that Iran and Azerbaijan Republic reached the final agreement to issue visa at the borders and the agreement will be executed in near future.

Establishment of closer cooperation between Maku Free Trade Zone in Iran with the Azerbaijan Republic and Nakhjavan were also agreed, Vaezi noted.

“We also agreed to take steps toward facilitation of banking relations, tourism cooperation and increasing the trade exchange.”

Preparing the ground for presence of Azeri traders in Iran’s West Azerbaijan province was also emphasized, the official said.

Pointing to the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s upcoming visit to Tehran, he noted that the two countries are expected to ink 10 cooperation documents during the visit.

The official appreciated the presence of 60 Azeri traders in the Iran-Azerbaijan trade forum and voiced hope for increase of investment in West Azerbaijan.

Vaezi and Azerbaijan Minister of Economy and Industries Shahin Mustafayev arrived in Urumieh, West Azarbaijan province on Thursday evening to take part in Iran-Azerbaijan Economic Forum.
