Ayatollah Khamenei ideas helpful for Muslim unity: Pak army chief

According to an informed source present at the Friday meeting between General Qamar Javed Bajwa and local tribal elders representating people of Parachinar in north-western Pakistan, the army chief clarified that he respects thoughts and ideas of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and Ayatollah Sistani because their thoughts are quite helpful for the unity of the Muslim world.

“The army chief said that Ayatollah Khamenei is seeking stronger unity in the Muslim world and his thoughts should be followed by all those who are looking for this unity,” the source told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

“General Bajwa reiterated that whatever Ayatollah Khamenei says, is helpful for the unity of Muslims and he has never been after dividing the Muslim world,” the source added.

According to the source, the army chief also called on Pakistani people not to listen to those “who are attempting to divide the Muslim Ummah.”

General Bajwa visited Parachinar last Friday after the recent deadly terrorist blasts in the region and assured better security for people of the city, the capital of Kurram district.

This year, at least 120 people have been killed in three separate improvised explosive device (IED) and suicide attacks on Parachinar, including last week's attack. Fifteen others were killed in a roadside bombing elsewhere in Kurram in April.
