Arbaeen, religious ritual, token of Muslim Unity

Esmaeili made the remarks in a meeting with organizers of Arbaeen (to mark end of the 40-day mourning period after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Imam of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Infallible Household, in an unequal battle in 680 AD).

He said Arbaeen is a political and worshipping ritual being observed by Muslims.

He said the procession being held in Karbala, Iraq, strengthens unity among the Shia Muslims.
