Arab countries can't separate Iran, Syria: Lebanese ex-minister

Mansour who made the remarks in a televised interview said there is no justification for the hostility of the Persian Gulf States towards Syria.

He also said he does not think Syria would attend the forthcoming Arab League Summit in Tunisia since the United States and Israel want Syria to be away from Arab countries.

Mansour said maintaining ties with Syria will provide benefits for Lebanon, wondering why not acting as a mediator rather than taking sides with a certain party?

The former Lebanese foreign minister noted the Arab economic summit to be held in Beirut this week will definitely adopt a hostile approach towards Iran.

Lebanon which will host the Arab economic summit this week, refused to invite Syria due to the suspension of its membership in the organization.

There are diplomatic relations between neighboring Lebanon and Syria. But since Lebanese officials are at odds over ties with the Syrian government, the two sides are experiencing stagnation in relations.
