Ambassador: JCPOA irreversible

He said the issue of JCPOA is not between just between Iran and the US, but between Iran and Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany).

Whitehead underlined that Iran is the strongest country in the region and this is the reason JCPOA stays alive.

Concerning the visit of President Rouhani to Cape Town, the ambassador said there is no exact date, but we hope it happens on the second half of year 2017.

In relations with affects of President Trump election on world interaction, Whitehead said there is difference between election candidates with a president.

Whitehead evaluated mutual relations between the two countries of Iran and South Africa very good, even before implementation of JCPOA, but after that there were plenty of meetings between trade delegations of both states.

He stressed that following visit of South African President Jacob Zuma to Iran and his meeting with President Rouhani, the two sides decided to increase mutual trade exchanges level to 2 billion dollars within next three years.

Imposed sanctions against Iran had affects on bilateral trade level, especially oil section with a great deal of effects.

Whitehead said that there are warm and sincere relations between the two presidents.

Considering presidential election in Iran and holding national conference meeting of South African ruling party in December, we think the visit might happen in the second half of the year 2017.
