Ahvaz terror attack failed attempt: Lebanon top Shia cleric

Sheikh Abdel Amir Qabalan, said the strike tended to target security, stability, sovereignty and unity of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Qabalan said the attack would not undermine Iran's approach toward confronting arrogant powers.

He said the terrorist attack in Ahvaz was intended to complete the cruel sanctions imposed on Iran due to the country's fight against the Zionist regime and Takfiri terrorism.

The Lebanese official went on to say the attack was a retaliatory response to the achievements made in the fight against terrorism in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon.

He also stressed that Saturday's terrorist incident was a plot by state sponsors of terrorism.

He offered condolences to Iran's Supreme Leader, Iranian people and the families of the victims and wished stability, security, prosperity and peace for the Iranian nation and government.

During the indiscriminate attack carried out on Saturday morning, four gunmen affiliated with the separatist group 'Al-Ahwaz' attacked a military parade.

25 people, including the military and the civilians were killed and 70 others were wounded.
