The Chinese president called the agreement a political “milestone”, adding that any "external interference" in the full implementation of the deal should be eliminated, Xinhua reported.
Xi made the remarks on Friday at a meeting attended by leaders or senior officials of six countries which helped broker the Iranian nuclear deal, on the sidelines of the fourth Nuclear Security Summit in Washington.
Saying that the nuclear deal proved that dialogue and cooperation will settle serious disputes among major powers, he said, "We should stick to the political commitment and make sure the deal is implemented as it should have been.”
“We stand ready to work with all related sides to push forward the implementation of the deal,” the Chinese president added.
Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) reached a nuclear deal on July 14, 2015 and started implementing it on January 16.
The comprehensive nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), terminated all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran, but the country is not getting the full economic fruits of the landmark deal yet.
