Vienna to expand ties with Tehran: Austrian minister

Saying that Austria-Iran bilateral trading is of great importance to Vienna and his country is active in import, export and technological knowledge transfer, Mahree said that Austria has had good relations with Iran in the past decades and tried to keep the ties even during the Iran-Iraq War and the sanctions.

He said that Austria is proud to have hosted talks leading to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the Iran Nuclear Deal and added that the Austrian president was the first head of state to visit Tehran after the deal was finalized.

He said that his country is planning to hold further sessions in the framework of the Iran-Austria Joint Commission in early 2018. 'Iran is specially interested in green (non-pollutant) technology and Austria tries to increase its activities in the field.'

The meeting of the Joint Commission will be held in the first quarter of 2018 and a delegation from Austrian Federal Economic Chamber will go to Iran in the second half of the year to pursuit the agreements, added Mahrer.

He said that the Economic Chamber of Iran and Austria signed agreements on Tuesday and they have had other agreements in 2015 and 2016; Austria is planning to turn the agreements to projects.

Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines & Agriculture Ghalam-Hossein Shafei headed a delegation to Vienna last week and visited Mahrer on Tuesday.
