Turkey underlines promotion of ties with Iran

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made the remarks in a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani.

He expressed his dissatisfaction over the current 10 billion dollars of trade exchanges between the two countries, noting that a road map for reaching the 30 billion dollars trade exchange target is on the agenda.

Erdogan underlined promotion of banking and tourism cooperation and using local currencies by the two states.

Commenting on developments in Iraqi Kurdistan region, he said that Ankara will only deal with the Iraqi central government on mutual issues.

'Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government will get nowhere and will be isolated,' the official added.

Erdogan said, 'We will try to resolve the Iraqi issue by adopting trilateral measures.'

He stressed that Turkey will intensify pressures on the Kurdish semi-autonomous region, north of Iraq.

Iran and Turkey signed four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in Tehran on Wednesday. The Iranian and Turkish officials inked the cooperation documents at the presence of President Rouhani and his Turkish counterpart.
