Shiraz important in medical tourism: Omani airline official

Deputy Chairman of Salam Air Anwar Al Rawas said that Shiraz, a city which is well-known for its medical services, particularly in ophthalmology, has given it in a special position.

Referring to Muscat-Shiraz flight that are launched for the first time, he said that the measure can boost the relations between Oman and Iran, especially on trade and tourism.

Speaking on the sidelines of a ceremony held on the first flight between Muscat and Shiraz, the Omani official emphasized that the flights were launched upon the requests by customers, to promote tourism ties.

He also noted given that a minority of people from Shiraz are residing in Oman, the flights between the city and Muscat is of great importance in enhancing ties.

The flights to Shiraz are scheduled on Sundays and Wednesdays.

The official also said that Salam Air is now planning for flights to Mashad and Tehran.

Iran and Oman on Wednesday also established fligts between the former's Kish Island and the latter's capital Muscat.
