Serbia keen on cooperation with Iran in housing sector

In a meeting with visiting Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Shariatmadari, the Serbian minister also said the educational sectors of both countries should cooperate in the fields of construction and housing.

For his part, Shariatmadari said the transport sector lays the groundwork for development of trade, adding that Iran is ready for expansion of cooperation with Serbia in the area of road and rail transport.

He said Iran enjoys good capacities for road building and maintenance and is ready to put its experiences at the disposal of Serbian firms.

The Iranian minister also proposed implementing joint infrastructure projects by the two countries given Iran's high technical and engineering capabilities.

The direct flights between Tehran and Belgrade was resumed in January 2018 after a 27-year hiatus with Iranian flag carrier Iran Air operating two weekly flights to Belgrade.

Qeshm Air, another Iranian airline, has resumed its flights to Belgrade since late May this year with some other companies announcing willingness to follow suit.

Over the past eight months, a large number of Iranian tourists have visited Serbia and its capital city of Belgrade.
