While addressing a gathering in Lahore he said that Iran is fully abiding by the nuclear deal, so re-imposition of sanctions by the US against the Islamic Republic is an unjustified move.
Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (the US, France, Britain, China, and Russia) plus Germany signed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in 2015.
The US President Donald Trump withdrew from the deal on May 8, and also re-imposed the economic sanctions on Iran.
Khawaja Habib ur Rehman added that Russia has a plan to invest $ 50 billion in Iran, however, the US is trying to dominate its policies in the region.
The trader said that economic situation of Iran is far better than the past and the new round of the US sanctions on Iran cannot hamper progress of the country.
He was of the view that the US companies and some investors are afraid of sanctions but one thing is clear that Russia and Turkey will not leave Iran under any circumstances.
He added that trade between Iran and Pakistan would also continue.
He was of the opinion that Pakistan government should take more steps to complete Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project which would help the country to overcome its energy issues. “We have to look at our interests,” he pointed out.
