Provincial cooperation major part of Iran-Austria ties: Ambassador

Addressing Vienna-Tehran Commercial Conference, Ebadollah Molaei said relations between Iran and Austria provinces have made remarkable progress over the past two years, adding “I believe that our bilateral ties have deepened and now it is possible for both sides to identify new areas of collaboration in a bid to shape a promising participation.”

'Although the trade ties between Iran and Austria has not reached a desirable level, they are growing constantly,' he said, noting, “We are attaching special significance to inter-provincial cooperation, as we consider them the main section of the two countries’ dynamic collaboration.”

Vienna is one of the major partners of Iran, which has established useful dialogues with Tehran and Isfahan Provinces, Molaei recalled, saying that visit of Vienna mayor and head of chamber of commerce to Tehran was a turning point in bilateral relations, when a significant memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the two countries’ private sectors.

Tehran as a metropolis with plenty of opportunities and vast capacities considers Vienna as a main partner in future, he said, noting that what is needed is to get more knowledge about chances of cooperation, capacities and adopting correct trade strategies.

He also mentioned environment, automaking, telecommunication, agriculture, water management, pharmaceutical industries, energy, petrochemicals, food industries, mines, steel and other small industries as areas of cooperation between the two countries.

Iran’s trade delegation comprising representatives of 36 Iranian companies attended the joint meetings of Tehran-Vienna chambers of trade.

Forging further working communications between Tehran province and Vienna and Lower Austria was among the objectives of the Iranian delegtion’s trip to the country.

Prior to Vienna visit, Iranian delegation on a trip to Slovakia on Monday discussed ways of promoting commercial relations with the country.
