Pakistan's 1st railway consignment arrives in Zahedan

Director General for Southeast Railway Department Majid Arjoni in Zahedan told IRNA that the first train carrying potatoes, mango, tangerine and rice from Pakistan for destination of Kazakhstan arrived in Zahedan railroad station.

He said that it is due one million tons goods to be transited through Zahedan railway annually.

Considering differences between standards of Iran and Pakistan railways, there is no possibility for Pakistani train to enter Iranian railways, so the transit consignments should be transferred by “Transship Operation”.

Now, Iran’s Southeast Railway Region has two types of rail, Wide and Standard.

And rail connection to Pakistan and locating in international corridor route of east to west, which connect Pakistan and semi-continental of India to Turkey, Europe and Central Asia has special international importance and had been confirmed by ECO and SCAP organizations.

The railway distance between Quetta and Zahedan is 650 kilometers.
