Pakistan committed to complete Iran gas pipeline: Pak Minister

In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Muhammad Pervaiz Malik said Pakistan desires energy and the IP gas pipeline will provide cheap source of energy to the country. “We are making efforts to complete the IP and we will also review the project with the Iranian authorities in the upcoming commerce ministers meeting in Islamabad.'

The minister said that the project will bring financial stability in Pakistan ‘that is why we had finalized the project with Iran’. 'We believe in boosting cooperation between Iran and Pakistan, we are neighbors and the trade between the two countries could bring lots of benefits for us.'

Malik also said that different committees are working to resolve the problems in the bilateral trade of the two countries. “One of our committees is still in Iran to resolve the issues which are hampering trade between Iran and Pakistan. Inshallah we will see better results in future.'

“I cannot give any fixed date for resumption of banking channel between Iran and Pakistan, but we want to resume our banking ties with Iran as early as possible so that the trade between the two neighbors can be enhanced.'

'We will discuss all issues regarding trade with Iran in the ministerial meeting which will be held in one or two months in Islamabad,' said the minister.

He emphasized on the importance of the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran and expressed the hope that the bilateral relations would continue to evolve on principles of mutual respect, common interests and understanding each other perceptions.
