More than $2.3 billion goods export from Mehran border terminal

Shohani said that by signing bilateral agreements between neighboring Iraqi provinces of Maysan, Wasit, Diyala and Babil with Ilam, the two sides planned to double export volume between the two countries from Mehran border.

He said that exporting goods from this border terminal increased 61 percent last year, adding that totally from 2,300,730,767 dollars 591,571,502 dollars was related to Ilam province and 1,709, 159,265 dollars were from custom houses of other provinces.

Shohani said that the main exported items were construction materials, metal products, agricultural corps, plastics, automobile, spare parts and petrochemical products.

Mehran border is 230 kilometers far from Baghdad and in average around 600 trucks carrying exporting goods passes from this border daily.

Mehran border city is located 85 kilometers southwest of Ilam city, capital of the province.
