Minister: India's language of threat in oil deals with Iran rejected

“Using language of threats is not appropriate,” Zangeneh said, responding a question after a government cabinet meeting on Wednesday on India’s recent threats concerning stopping oil imports from Iran.

Negotiations should be conducted under reasonable conditions, the petroleum minister said.

“We cannot enter deals under threats,” Zangeneh said.

India is one of the good customers of Iranian crude oil and we remain to be interested to enhance our cooperation with the country, he said.

Iranian oil minister also said that any cuts in the amount of exported oil to India are not going to cause Iran any harms.

“There are a lot of customers for Iranian oil and their demand surpasses our export capacity,” Zangeneh said.

“We are not producing oil for our comfort but to earn income,” he said.
