He made the remarks at Tehran Mehrabad Airport on the sidelines of the ceremony to welcome Iran's first Airbus plane purchased after the removal of sanctions.
Akhundi said that renovation of Iran Air fleet has begun.
The Minister added that according to the contracts with world big plane builders, Iran Air is to receive 200 new planes, of 100 will be purchased from Airbus and 80 from Boeing with another contract to be signed soon for 20 planes from ATR Company.
The first Airbus 'A321' landed at Tehran Mehrabad Airport on Thursday afternoon and joined Iranian air fleet.
