'Bushehr port has the closest dimension to the maritime connections to the ports of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain,' Siavash Arjmanadzadeh said.
He said that tours to the island of Kharg have been limited for several years, and attempts have been made to use this capacity.
Arjmanadzadeh reiterated that in the first stage, resumption of foreign sea trips from the port of Bushehr to Doha, Qatar, will be carried out in the form of freight and passenger ferries.
'In this regard, the study is underway for the reconstruction of the passenger terminal, refurbishment of the port and its dredging,' he added.
Director General of Ports and Maritime Affairs of Bushehr Province went on to say that with the realization of this project, in addition to the provision of passenger transportation, it is possible to export cargo through the Bushehr-Kharg line.
