Iranian minister: Stopping foreign interventions could help end poverty

This could be part of an approach and a comprehensive mechanism in addressing the poverty, said Ali Rabiee Iran's Minister of Cooperative, Labor and Welfare in Geneva on Tuesday, referring to dire regional conditions in West of Asia.

'Many countries in the Middle East and north of Africa are suffering from hostilities and internal violence, Rabiee said, addressing the 105th Session of the International Labor Conference.

'The people of these countries, children more than others, are victims of violence and foreign military interventions,' the Iranian minister said.

He said that militarism accompanied by exacerbating political instability, on national and regional levels, is going to reinforce the poverty trap.

The 105th Session of the International Labor Conference meets once a year in June, in Geneva, Switzerland.

This year's ILC event is on ending poverty and implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
