Iran exports 749,000 tons of decorative stone

The figure was 516,000 tons last year, director general of mineral steel and non-steel department of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade Seifollah Amiri said on Thursday.

Nimvar stone is well-known in the world, he said adding that production should be reinforced in this field.

Markazi Province is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. The word markazi means central in Persian. In 2014 it was placed in Region 4. Markazi lies in western Iran. Its capital is Arak and its population is estimated at 1.41 million.

Decorative stone is used for decorative purposes in construction and monumental sculpture produced in various countries.
