Iran-Belgium trade to further grow

Speaking a 35-member delegation from Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines, Bernanderz said Iran and Belgium can be important trade partners and “we welcome expansion of relations with Iran.”

He suggested that Iran and Belgium can have good cooperation in clean energy, e-commerce, space equipment, auto and agriculture.

“We are highly interested in having cooperation with Iran in the transportation industry; also we are willing to expand cooperation with Iran in health and medicine. Iran enjoys highly sophisticated technology and we can expand the cooperation.”

Meanwhile, Head of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture Gholam-Hossein Shafeie said after the JCPOA, Iran has undergone drastic economic changes and new steps have been taken for expansion of relations with the world.

“Belgium is a pioneer in free economy and has gained considerable progress in private sector and the monetary and banking areas, enjoying high investment security. As for ties with Belgium we do not think just on bilateral relations, rather, the country can serve as gate of our entry to other European countries. In the past two years, volume of Iran-Belgium economic relations started to grow and we can boost the volume of commercial relations. There is considerable capacity for cooperation in health and medication, pharmaceutical industries, medical equipment, oil, gas and petrochemicals and can expand. A Belgian company has started activity in auto industry to produce automatic gearboxes. Iran-Belgium cooperation in transportation and transit can expand because Iran has many programs in the sector and Belgium can be the forerunner in railway.

Iran enjoys exceptional capacity and has access to the market of 400 million in the regional and the neighboring countries. Private sector has effective role in the sovereignty and the role is getting expanded and the early bird foreign trade partners will be the winners,” said Shafeie.

Volume of Iran-Belgium trade stands at close to 200 million dollars.
