During the meeting, Belarusian Transport and Communications Minister Anatoli Siwak called for expansion of economic ties between Tehran and Minsk.
He referred to importance of transit routes including roads, railroads and air in development of the two countries' economic ties and called for establishment of direct flight between the two states.
Iranian Ambassador to Belarus Mustafa Oveisi lauded the important role of Belarus in development of the western route of North-South international transport corridor between Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Iran and Russia.
He said that development of transit routes can boost the region's economy and welcomed establishment of direct flights between Iran and Belarus.
Belarus with an area of 207,600 square kilometers and a population of about 10 million is located in Eastern Europe bordering Russia, Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania. It gained its independence following the disintegration of ex-Soviet Union.
