Iran Banking Forum Due to Be Held in Germany in May

With the gradual termination of anti-Iran sanctions, many Iranian and international banking professionals are keen on finding out the impact this will have on the current banking system and what kind of opportunities will soon be available for the benefit of both international organizations and domestic entities.

The Iran International Banking 2016 Forum is aimed at examining the current situation of banking in Iran, providing insights on how it needs to evolve in the coming months and years, and giving more clarity on ways international financial institutions and Iranian banks can reconnect in the most time-efficient manner and in a way that makes financial and operational sense.

The forum is slated to be held by International Research Networks (IRN) on May 17 and 18, with a post-forum Workshop due for May 19. Jumeirah Frankfurt Hotel will host the event.

According to Head of Iran’s World Trade Center Mohammad Reza Sabzalipour, the center will also support the forum, which is expected to host the world’s leading financial and monetary managers and experts.

He said Iranian banks had good and extensive cooperation with banks in different countries like France, Germany, Britain, Italy, Japan and China prior to the imposition of sanctions on Tehran and that those banks know the Iranian market well and are interested in resuming cooperation.

There has been growing international interest in trade and banking ties with Iran since Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, 2015 finalized a comprehensive deal on Tehran’s nuclear program and implemented it on January 16.

The nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), terminated nuclear-related sanctions on Iran after coming into force.
