Iran, Azerbaijan agree on banking cooperation

Expansion of relations with neighboring countries, Azerbaijan in particular, is among strategic policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iranian Economy Minister Farhad Dejpasand said during a meeting in Tehran with his Azeri counterpart Shahin Mustafayev.

He said that Azerbaijan has a special place in Iran’s foreign policy.

The Azeri minister, for his part, voiced his country’s readiness to help complete the remaining parts of the Rasht-Astara railway project.

Mustafayev welcomed the 74% growth in trade exchanges between Iran and Azerbaijan which he said amounted to $ 450 million last year.
