Iran, Armenia call for expansion of agricultural cooperation

Iran's Ambassador to Armenia Kazem Sajjadi was also attending the meeting in which both sides examined various grounds for the expansion of cooperation on agricultural products.

During the meeting, the Armenian minister congratulated the reelection of president Rouhani and expressed hope to witness expansion of allout relations and cooperation between the two countries during his tenure.

He called for formation of a joint committee at the presence of both sides' businessmen to fully study legal aspects of broadening jointly- run economic cooperation in various agricultural sectors.

Since Armenia is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), Yerevan welcomes Iran's membership in the union for exports of agricultural products, he said.

They studied expansion of cooperation in fisheries, animal husbandry, animal products as well as expansion of cooperation between the two countries' provinces.

Iranian minister, for his part, thanked the Armenian minister for congratulating the Iranian president-elect and described the two sides' cooperation in agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries as very good and underlined that such trend should be accelerated.

Taking advantage of the new technological know-how on water management and agricultural lands, Iran is now self-sufficient in the production of agricultural products, Hojjati said.

Iranian minister of agricultural jihad arrived in Yerevan on Monday and conferred with the country’s prime minister on issues of mutual interests as well as expansion of cooperation.
