Finance minister hails Iran’s accession to Eurasian Union

Addressing members of an economic delegation scheduled to take part in the 14th session of Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission, he said that Iranian and Russian presidents have good interactions and President Rouhani’s recent visit to India brought numerous achievements for Iran.

“We should endeavor to follow up Iran-Russia-India corridor at the earliest as it is a valuable project,” he said.

Pointing to President Vladimir Putin’s recent trip to Tehran, Karbasian said that officials of the two countries have reached agreement on setting up Iran-Russian-India corridor, calling for speedy implementation of the project.

Asked about significance of the 14th Iran-Russia Joint Economic Cooperation meeting, he said that the commission is to explore new areas of cooperation in various sectors including energy, banking and insurance, agriculture, customs and industry.

On the sidelines of the commission meeting, tradesmen, industrialists and experts from chambers of commerce will meet their counterparts to sign working deals, which will definitely help broaden bilateral ties.

Even the issue of oil purchase from Iran will be discussed in the Moscow meeting, the Iranian minister said.

Karbasian arrived in Moscow on Sunday at the head of a 75-member delegation to attend the 14th session of Joint Economic Cooperation Commission.

During its three-day stay Moscow, the top level Iranian delegation is to sign cooperation memorandum of understanding and meet with top-ranking economic and political officials of Russia, in addition to taking part in the joint commission meeting.

The deputy ministers and senior directors of Ministries of Industry, Mine and Trade, Agricultural Jihad, Petroleum, Health, Treatment and Medical Education, Energy, Interior, Road and Urban development, Foreign Affairs, Central Bank, Organization of Culture and Islamic Relations, Atomic Energy Organization, Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization are accompanying the finance minister.

More than 25 representatives of the private sector are among the group.

The 14th Joint Economic Cooperation Commission meeting is to be held from March 5-6 in Moscow.
