APO: Iran makes progress in industrial-scale productivity

“We have taken positive steps over past five years in the direction of reviving productivity, especially in the industry sector,” Kanoktanaporn said.

Kanoktanaporn, who is in Tehran to attend annual meeting of Board of Governors of APO, told IRNA that in recent years Iran had good participation in execution of productivity programs and Iranian experts attended all meetings, training courses to promote productivity in Iran.

Productivity in the field of industry is one of approaches of Iran and in near future programs to promote productivity in general sector will be executed.

By applying the approach of knowledge management, this program will be executed bilaterally or multilaterally with the cooperation of Japan and South Korea.

He said that Iran had proposed to APO a program on becoming a hub in general sector of productivity.

APO is a regional and inter-governmental organization which was founded in 1961 by participation of eight countries of China, India, Japan, Nepal, Pakistan, South Korea, Philippines and Thailand and now has 19 members.

Aim of APO is to participate in economic-social development of member-states and improve life quality for their people through promotion of productivity with reciprocal cooperation morale among the member-states.

Membership in APO is permitted for all Asia-Pacific states which are members of the UN–ESCAP.

The 59th meeting of APO board of governors kicked off on April 10 and it will last three days in Tehran.

Head of Iran National Productivity Organization Ms. Rouya Tabatabaei Yazdi said that the meeting is held every year in one of member-states.

She added that countries like Iran, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Fiji, Cambodia, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Vietnam and India are members of the board.

Sustainable productivity is the main subject of this meeting in Tehran.
