Vaezi, for his part, referred to the fact that Iran and Azerbaijan have common stances in regional and international issues.
Both countries are trying to reinforce peace and stability, he added.
He also described as 'important' taking advantage of opportunities, capacities and potential in Iran and Azerbaijan.
Vaezi underlined the importance of efforts to broaden relations and cooperation between Tehran and Baku and facilitating implementation of agreements.
Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) upon his arrival in Baku, Vaezi said the aim of his visit to Azerbaijan was to hold talks on regional issues and bilateral relations.
'We are living in a region where special conditions prevail. Recently two important elections were held in Iraq and Lebanon. There are instability and unrest in some countries of the region which necessitate consultations between Iran and Azerbaijan as two countries seeking peace and stability of the region,' he earlier said.
Pointing to close relations between Tehran and Baku, Vaezi said the presidents of the two countries have met 12 times over the past five years and there have been around 100 meetings between high ranking officials of Iran and Azerbaijan.
