8.5m tons of livestock products transported via western Iran border crossing

In an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Monday, Fatemeh Ayrom, Head of Maku veterinary office, said the livestock products were transported to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan following health visits.

She went on to say Iran acts as a transit bridge between Asian and Western countries and facilitates regional trade.

According to Ayrom, during the same period, through Bazargan border crossing in western Iran over six tons of livestock products have been imported from Austria, Spain, Scotland, southern Ireland, Hungary, Germany, Ukraine, Turkey, Egypt, the Netherlands, Belgium, Bulgaria, Japan, Turkmenistan, Czech Republic, China, France, Poland and Lithuania.

She said the most important imported goods are, in order of priority, vitamins, pharmaceutical supplements, livestock feed additives, edible eggs, hatching eggs, small animal feeds, fish food, veterinary drugs and biological products.

Bazargan border crossing which is the most important Iranian ground border for importing and exporting is open round the clock.
