“Fortunately, our county has achieved self-sufficiency since 1393 (2014) in producing wheat and there is no need to import it,” said Aqaie on Friday.
“The self-sufficiency has been the result of round-the-clock efforts of the farmers as well as the incentives the ministry has paid to them,” he added.
Last month, Head of National Union of Agricultural Crops Exporters Reza Nourani told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that the first wheat consignment weighing 35,000 tons was exported to Oman this year.
According to the official statistics, Iran has capability to export 2 million tons of wheat.
