Iranian Naval Fleet Makes Port Call in Tanzania

Comprised of Martyr Naqdi destroyer, Lavan logistic warship and Bushehr vessel, the Iranian fleet will remain at the African port for four days.

Deployment of fleets to the African and Asian nations is part of the Iranian Navy’s common plans.

Back in June 2014, the 30th fleet of Iran’s Navy had also made port calls at the Omani port of Salalah, Port Sudan and Tanzania’s Dar es Salaam in an overseas mission that lasted for more than three months.

In recent years, Iran’s naval forces have increased their presence in the international waters to protect naval routes and provide security for merchant vessels and oil tankers.
