At a summit, all news agencies and media outlets called for further cooperation in the field of news through the use of science, technology and innovation, Xinhua said on Tuesday.
The report quoted Iran's Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Abbas Salehi as saying that today we live in an age that media need to review and evaluate themselves and use the best scientific and technical methods to advance media affairs.
Xinhua quoted him as saying that media restructuring is a must, because the media are in a period when a new environment of communication, collaboration, and media and networking activities is formed.
The Asia-Pacific News Agency Organisation (OANA) was formed in 1961 with the initiative of UNESCO with the aim of disseminating information and facilitating the field, with 44 members from 35 countries and the Asia-Pacific region.
The 43th meeting of the Executive Board of the Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) was addressed Monday by the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Abbas Salehi and IRNA's Managing Director Seyyed zia Hashemi, with the participation of senior executives of the news agencies of the Organization, senior news agencies, Iranian newspapers and a number of heads of commissions and representatives of Iran's parliament, IRIB, the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other organizations and institutions hosted by IRNA at the Spinase Palace Hotel in Tehran.
