
Haoliang Xu made the remarks in an interview with reporters on the sidelines of a visit to desertification projects in Aran-Beidgol area in Isfahan province.
Xu said different desertification projects and creation of hand-planted forests in Iran were all made possible in light of extensive cooperation between people and officials.
Referring to extensive measures of the United Nations in fight against dust storm in the world, Xu said the organization helps all member states confront with dust storm phenomenon.
He pointed to holding many conferences in the world to fight dust storm and said that in the conferences countries use each other's experiences in that concern.
The UNDP official said local people extensively contribute to and play a vital role in the dust control project.
Aran-Beidgol city is located 215 kilometers from Isfahan city.
International Conference on Combating Sand and Dust Storms (SDS) kicked off its two-day work in Tehran on Monday, July 3, and representatives from 34 countries affected most by sand and dust participated there.
Ministers and representatives from Italy, France, Germany, China, Azerbaijan Republic, Belgium, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Pakistan, Armenia, Chad, Iraq, Turkey, India, Jordan, South Korea, Slovakia, Serbia and the US have participated in the conference.
