Two Iranian films attend Venice Film Festival

Directed by Mostafa Sayyari, ‘As I Lay Dying’ will compete in Horizons section. Mohsen Banihashem’s first movie ‘Staircase’ will also be screened in this section.

Multi-award-winning Iranian actress Fatemeh Motamed Arya will judge in ‘Horizon’ section. Also, Iranian-American fimmaker Ramin Bahrani is among the juries of the festival’s ‘Award for a Debut Film’ section.

Awarding English actress Vanessa Redgrave for six decades of acting and screening Damien Chazelle’s ‘First man’ is among the agenda of the opening ceremony.

In the previous edition of this event, Iranian director Vahid Jalilvand won the Best Director award for ‘No Date, No Signature’ movie. Also, Iranian actor Navid Mohammadzadeh received the Best Actor award for playing in this film.

The 75th Venice International Film Festival will be underway from August 29 to September 8, 2018.

Venice Film Festival alongside with the Cannes Film Festival and Berlin International Film Festival are the major film festivals in the world, dubbed ‘Big Three’.
