The proposal was made in a meeting held on Wednesday between Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution and Secretary of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) Saeed Sarkar.
As Nasution reiterated, the working group would follow up the implementation of mutual agreements concerning nanotechnology.
In a related development, Sarkar met and conferred with the Indonesian Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education Muhammad Nasir.
At the meeting, Nasir expressed his country’s keenness to develop ties with Iran in various fields.
Nasir said that he will seriously support the Indonesian universities and research centers to boost relations with Iran.
Also on Tuesday (April 11), Sarkar held talks with Indonesian Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto on boosting cooperation in nanotechnology.
The meetings of the Iranian delegation were held in Jakarta following talks between the two countries' presidents in December, 2016, during which Indonesia expressed its willingness to widen cooperation with Iran in the nanotech area.
According to reports, Iran is pioneer in nanotechnology and stands at the sixth place regarding scientific products in the world.
